Departments

 

Departments are used to track time by groups of employees. Departments are assigned to Locations which can be used to filter the list of employees.

For example, a location was created named Manufacturing. The Shipping department is assigned to the Manufacturing location. John, Mary and Stan have Shipping as their home department. A user is created and the Manufacturing location is assigned to the user. When the user logs in and opens the timecard they will only have access to the employees in the shipping department which are John, Mary and Stan.

Also, if your clock supports department transfers, you can create departments so employees can transfer from one department to another department.

In the Standard version of PayClock Online you are limited to 100 departments. In the Enterprise version of PayClock Online allows an unlimited amount of departments.
